You can check whether there is an extra round or not by doing this – look through the barrel of the gun to the front. It will reveal the place where the ready-for-shoot bullet stays.
Disassemble the gun
You may clean the exterior of the gun for a better look, but the interiors require your attention much while cleaning. So you will need to disassemble the gun. If you don’t know how to disassemble the gun, then use the manual guide that comes with the gun. There you will find a proper explanation on how to disassemble the gun. Moreover, if you know how to disassemble a gun, don’t dismantle more than the recommendation of the manufacturer. Doing so may damage your gun or make it unusable.
Clean the barrel
We will start by cleaning the barrel of the gun. To do so, soak the barrel of the gun on the cleaning solvent for a while. Usually, handguns don’t have issues of copper accumulating, so you shouldn’t depend on the copper removing solvent that much. You should simply go for the general purpose gun cleaners available in your area. Who will you do it? Put some of the solvents on a cleaning patch then assign it to the cleaning rod. Now push it gently through the end of the muzzle. It will remove the dirt.
Lubricate the barrel
The lubricant can be a great companion to remove the barrel of the gun thoroughly. Put a cotton mop on a cleaning rod. Then apply a few drops of lubricant on it and run it through the bore of the gun to put the oil inside. You may use a gun conditioner for a better result. Now apply some solvent on the brush and brush through all area of action. Then wipe the whole area with a dry and clean cloth.
After that, lubricate the moving part of the gun gently. It will help to prevent the possibility of rust. Make sure that you put a light coating instead of the heavier one. A heavy coating of lubricant can attract much debris.
Clean the rest with a luster cloth
The luster cloth is a flannel cloth that comes with silicone lubricant. The peak of using the lubricant is it will remove any debris as well as fingerprints from the gun and give it a shiny look. However, if you don’t find any cluster cloth nearby, then you may use an old t-shirt. However, make sure that it is free of dirt.
